Device information is provided for assistance and is not a guarantee of network compatibility. Final compatibility must be verified with the selected carrier before activation. Do not submit an IMEI you are not authorized to check.

What the free IMEI report tells you

Three things decide whether a phone can be activated on a new prepaid line. The free check answers all three before you pay for anything. Dial *#06# on the handset to display its 15-digit IMEI.

RESULT 1

Carrier lock

Whether the phone is locked to the network it was sold through, or unlocked and free to use elsewhere.

A locked phone will not accept another carrier’s SIM until it is unlocked, so this is the first thing to check before switching.

RESULT 2

Blacklist status

Whether the IMEI has been reported to the industry database — typically as lost or stolen, or because of an unpaid account balance.

Carriers normally refuse to activate a blacklisted device, which makes this worth checking before you buy a used phone.

RESULT 3

Original carrier

Which network the device was originally sold through.

This tells us which prepaid options are realistic for the handset. Once you have the result, see the prepaid plans we activate.
